ME AND MY COMMODORE
by Paul Panks
My first computer was a Commodore
128. I really wanted a Commodore 64
(which my cousin had), but it was
Christmas 1985 and my brother was
older. Thus, he convinced my parents
into getting the Commodore 128.
I was upset for all of half a day.
On December 26, 1985, I played B.C.'s
Quest for Tires on our brand new
Commodore 128. The only time I spent
on a Commodore 64 was when I was at my
cousin's or when I switched into C64
mode from my C-128.
Actually, that's not quite true.
In 1992 or so, I bought a C64C for the
hell of it and used that for awhile
(until I accidentally spilled
Coca-Cola all over the keyboard,
frying the internal chips). I then
convinced my father to plunk down $200
for a used Commodore 128D, and never
went back.
I still have the 128D to this day.
